ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Risk and Records Officer, you will work alongside the Governance and Risk Coordinator, to provide specialist advice and support to managers and teams across Council to identify, assess, and mitigate risk in line with legislative requirements, Council policy, and best practice risk management principles. The role is also responsible for Council’s record management service delivery to the organisation in relation to effective and efficient management of Council records in accordance with the Public Records Act 1973, Information Privacy Act and PROV Standards through development and implementation of contemporary record management practices.

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee and support Council’s strategic and operational risk management framework, insurance portfolio and risk reporting obligations
  • Lead Council’s record management service delivery to the organisation
  • Contribute to a strong risk-aware and governance-focused culture through accountability, quality reporting and analysis

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Risk or Records professional seeking to broaden their knowledge and expertise within a multi-disciplinary, community focused organisation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Provide risk and records advice to internal and external stakeholders

Guide staff to understand their risk and records obligations

Manage Council’s risk management framework and record management practices

Interpret legislation, policies and procedures

Support Council’s accountability to the Audit and Risk Committee and Executive Leadership Team through quality reporting and analysis

Facilitate and Drive continuous improvement

Build strong relationships across Council

Assist with broader administrative duties as required

ABOUT YOU:

Demonstrate the below traits or have the drive and attitude to gain the skills and be willing to be mentored and undergo training.

Experience in risk and/or record management or relevant administrative roles in the local government sector

Knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures

Strong communication and stakeholder skills – ability to build credibility

Sound judgement and professionalism

Problem-solving capability

Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver within timeframes

Collaborative approach

Local government experience (desirable)
