ABOUT THE ROLE

As a trusted Human Resource (HR) Partner, you will work alongside leaders to provide practical, timely and professional advice across a broad range of people matters. Reporting to the People and Culture Coordinator, you will support employee’s and management with industrial relations, performance and development, workforce planning, recruitment, payroll and organisational initiatives.

This role is both advisory and hands-on, requiring the ability to balance day-to-day operational support with contributing to longer-term people strategies.

In this role, you will:

Partner with leaders to build capability and confidence in managing their teams

Provide clear and balanced advice on sensitive workplace matters

Contribute to a positive, respectful and high-performing organisational culture

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR Professional or a HR Professional seeking to broaden their knowledge and expertise within a multi-disciplinary, community focus organisation.

Council will also consider applications from an enthusiastic new entrant to the HR world.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Provide HR advice on industrial relations matters

Guide and support leaders in performance and development of their teams

Manage investigations and sensitive matters

Interpret legislation, policies and Enterprise Agreement

Support workforce planning, change initiatives and payroll

Facilitate recruitment and onboarding

Drive continuous improvement

Build strong relationships across Council

Assist with fortnightly payroll

ABOUT YOU:

Demonstrate the below traits or have the drive and attitude to gain the skills and be willing to be mentored and undergo training.

Experience in employee and industrial relations, including performance and disciplinary processes.

Knowledge of legislation, awards, policies and industrial frameworks

Strong communication and stakeholder skills – ability to build credibility.

Sound judgement and professionalism to manage confidential and sensitive matters

Problem-solving capability

Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver within timeframes

Collaborative approach

Local government experience (desirable)
